Nearing the End...

Of another month. And it's been a huge, exciting, fast paced month. So many things have happened that I wouldn't have expected to happen, and it's amazing that I'm even still standing to tell the tale.

Up coming birthdays this month include:
27th February- Jake Marr
28th February- Lee Ann Ng
Happy birthday guys, and I hope this year is something to remember. =)

Leap Day is also coming up (yay! one extra day to study for exams!) And there is most probably a Teachers Strike happening on Thursday, so yay! One more day to complete my work properly! (Yeah, I know I shouldn't be too happy about this, but I really do need the extra day)

March is coming soon, and after all that's happened so far, I can only say Good Bye February and hellooooooooooooooooooooooo March. =)

Elections.

I've been noticing quite a few elections suddenly.
Maybe it's because I've taken up Political and Legal Studies now. XD
But seriously: elections. Plentiful and everywhere at the moment.

There's the ever famous one in America: Barack Obama or Hilary Clinton. The race continues.
Although I can't believe that Barack Obama in a TCK! He originates from Kenya and has even lived in Indonesia. To me, it's like 'wow...a real life TCK, becoming a president!' XD I imagine if he became president of the USA, though, he would probably have a better foreign policy than Bush ever did. As a TCK, our foreign policies are very open. I mean, please, his grandparents even still live in Kenya, he could put an end to the turmoil in Kenya! He lived in Indonesia, so he could very open to the muslims and all us poor things in South East Asia! This is brilliant! >.< Another election is the one in Malaysia. This one I don't know so much about, but I am a little worried about this election, for my own private reasons. I am not so sure I want UMNO to win this election again. They've done some very good work for the past 20 years, no doubt about it.
I agree that bahasa malaysia should be compulsory, because if we don't learn our own version of bahasa, then who will?
And I fully support this 'Visit Malaysia' programme they've got going on at the moment. Malaysia generates so much income from tourism, this is only gonna boost us up by a gazillion times.
But there's so much that needs to be done...that I believe needs to be looked at. But UMNO has been pushing all of these issues into the background [feigning ignorance?]. We could do with, okay, not a change of government, but perhaps a change of policies? Traffic policy. Foreign policy. We've been with the same party (parties, since UMNO has been having coalitions with MCA and MIC for forever and a day) since the beginning of Malaysia's government. Malaysia needs to progress, much as I agree we're probably the most forward muslim country in the world with women and dress codes and such [or are we?].
I want a Malaysia that I can come back to, a Malaysia that still has the same multi-cultural lifestyles, but with more opportunities. The tourists who go to Malaysia talk about all the shopping, but not much else can be said for the people sometimes.

"It's Chemistry..."

"...aren't you all excited?"
[I remember atempting to restrain a grin at this sentence.]

This came from my Chemistry teacher, Mr. Conto, the first day I got back to school.

Another memorable quote from him will be:
"If you're not getting a hundred percent in these tests, you shouldn't be doing Chemistry."
[Yeah, he scared us with this one, until he recently changed it to 80%.]

He's this Australian guy who went to study in America.
I think.
He's got a rather mild American accent, but it's very noticable nonetheless. Especially in Australia. ("G'day mate!")
And he is easily the BEST chemistry teacher I've had since Ms. Woo in GIS, Year 9. Elaine will probably remember our memorable test scores when we had Ms. Woo for chemistry.
Well, I had a test on Chapter 5 of the textbook on Monday of the 2nd week of school. Now please note, I'd actually missed the first three days of school, and wasn't completely up to scratch. Mind you, 2 months holiday can cause quite a bit of unknown rustiness in the brain region. But he asked me to do all the Chapter 5 questions, and finished teaching the last half of Chapter 5 that I managed to get there for.
And for the test, I got: 87%.
87%
87%
87%
13 out of 15.
And I'm still dreaming about it.
This is my first 'A'...my first victory in chemistry in 2 years. I haven't had an 'A' since Grade 10 at Saints, when it was still relatively easy. And it wasn't even Chem, it was Science. Like 'Double Award Science' as the GIS kids would know it, without the Biology.

And I thought he was brilliant. He really was, knew exactly what he was doing.
And then I found out that he is apparently one of the top three Best Chemistry Teachers in the State.

Hmmm, maybe my life is finally heading in the right direction with Chemistry?
Well, I guess it would be, if this kind of mark continued into the exams. =)

They Return.

And so do I, after deciding that I have finally had enough of work for today.
I swear, I've been working myself up into a frenzy everyday just for homework. Agreeably, there's still loads more that need to be done, but I think I need to take a break now. Otherwise, I will very easily go mad before this term is even out...and I still have two more to get through before my exams!

For some reason or other, my Flooble Chatterbox and my
Radio Blog has been down for reasons unknown. Possibly renovation, although I don't actually notice any differences. I assure you, I suffered without my Radio Blog for a while, there were complete withdrawal symptoms right there. Until I realised that I had a radio on my phone. XD

I'm working full day tomorrow, from 8.30am to 5pm, and after that, I think, but am not sure if I will be going to my aunt's house for dinner. Which leaves me no time to study whatsoever. This kills me really, it does. I barely have time for myself anymore, and I dunno how much more I can take. Music seems to be my only solace. That's the one thing I have time for, whether I have work or not. I guess I'm just lucky that I can multi-task, in a way. Hmmm, wonder if the examinars will let me take a radio into the hall...XD

Hmmm, on the Year 12 Ball front, I've found a dress! =) But I'll keep it out of sight until the actual Ball. =) I'll describe it though: It's like a dark blue, and it's got some kind of shimmery gossamer over the blue cloth, so it goes all shimmery when it moves, which is very often. It's a tube (again, oh my goodness, I was hoping for a halter neck lah) and it's a little scrunchy at the top. It looks good, but I'll probably alter it a little at the bottom cuz it's a little plain, truth be told. =0) I even have the jewellry! Blue and silver, and it's a little bigger than I'm used to, but it's small enough so that it doesn't outsize me. It's good though, I love it.

So yeah, that's all the information with me. Till the next time. =)

Week 2- School

I am breathless and rushing for time everyday, attempting to get the work that in Year 11, I would normally get done in a week, I now have to get done in a day.

So I apologise for long pauses in my blogging, but I haven't got much choice in my blogging management.

I thought today should be made an exception, just because of Valentine's Day. But then again, the work load is so much, at the moment, any little excuse is a good excuse for me to get up here and blog again!

Perth is going through 37 degree weather at the moment and I am suffering the intense heat greatly. Thankfully, I am not at work, or I would be suffering more.

On the other hand, I am up to my eyeballs in a history project, maths worksheets, political and legal studies scrapbook, english lit reading, chemistry questions and human biology revision.
Lord save me, I really need a way to save me everyday, but I suppose, for a year that has been cut short a term, I can't really expect to get much of a break everyday.

On the bright side, House M.D. has finally returned since the writers strike is finally over and done with. I can now get my weekly fix of my favourtie character. *snuggles* Life is just so much more bearable now.

So I must flee back to my work now, and adieu to my readers, I shall return as soon as is possible with better topics than my mundane daily schedule.

Happy Valentine's Day!
[Or as I've been told, Happy Single Awareness Day. =P]

Time Management

The one thing I am currently lacking in.
I got back to school on the 7th of February, for reasons which I will not release to the general public (if I told you personally, then you should know), instead of the 4th.

And I am amazed.

Completely amazed.

First of all, I started off rather smoothly, no one badgered me too much about my absence, and teachers were really nice about helping me to catch up on what I missed.
What completely killed me was how much I had to catch up on for the first three days of the school year.
As it is, I already have:
-A Political and Legal Studies project which contributes to 5% of the year grade.
-A gazillion History questions to answer and a nice big essay.
-Almost 200 pages to read and understand in English Literature.
-A chapter quiz in Chemistry as well as answering all the questions in that particular chapter.

And I am just ready to break down and cry...

I don't mind doing the work, I honestly don't, but having to deal with so much at once is absolutely crushing. In addition to that, I have to work on Saturdays, and I am not so willing to give up the job unless it realy kills me grades to keep my job. I like this job, and being able to work there is such a break from school work, even IF I'm on my feet for close to 8 hours. =P

Still, I'm just gonna keep thinking of the day all this work finally gets me somewhere...

Chinese New Year [Bring Out The Red!]

Chinese New Year. A time of celebration for all the millions of Chinese people out there, wherever they are. It's nice to think that this is probably the one thing that connects us, even after we have moved, travelled, changed and adapted to the different societies and cultures of the world.
Of course, Chinese New Year happens to be a different event for many countries. We've adapted the holiday to our own needs and our own ideals of society.
I happen to only know the Malaysian idea of Chinese New Year, but I like it. =) Besides which, There are quite a few similarities that many will recognise. =P

Hong Pao, our pride and joy. =)

Money Plant! Ahhhh!

'Love Letters', our traditional Malaysian wafer. Very crispy, crumbly and sweet.
Wow, I haven't had these in years...=S

Yee Sang! Also a Malaysia delicacy. O__O
Wahhhhhhh!!!

Lion Dance! Our favourite traditional past time. It's believed to scare bad spirits away.
I haven't seen one in two years!

So yeah, this is our Malaysian Chinese pride and joy every year. Tomorrow is the eve of Chinese New Year, and on the 7th of February, Chinese New Year comes along, so I will be incredibly spring cleaning every nook and cranny of the house, so I thought I'd better post this up before I had no time left. =P This year so happens to be the year of the Rat, so to all 'rats', Gong Xi Fa Cai, and may you have the most prosperous year of all this year!
