Boxing Day

Today is the 4th anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami which claimed many lives all across the Indian Ocean.
So I can only sit back, and remember those who died...and pray that those new tsunami warnings which were installed immediately after still work, in case of another great tsunami.

Christmas Day was great. =) I didn't take any shots of my presents, but then again, who would want to see them?
I completely forgot that almost all stores open on Christmas and Boxing Day, because in South Africa and Australia, everything is closed, lol. So when my aunt took us out for lunch after church, I was completely flabbergasted to find that things were actually open.

Yeah, I feel like such a jakun at the moment.

As of now, I am still shopping for last minute presents for people at in Perth. Thankfully, things are cheap in Central Market, but I can't keep going back now, can I? Grr. I need to spend a whole day in there. At least most of the people on my list have been ticked off.
It's been said that Malaysians have created a 'Mega Sale Culture' and I say good for us! What excitement would there be, if we had no mega sales? I feel sorry for other countries who don't have the sales like we do. :P
Also headed to that fish pedicure place. These fish [and I have no idea what they're called] feast on dead skin cells, so putting your feet into a tank of these is literally the natural way to a great pedicure! It's dead ticklish at first I admit, but it gets better after a while. I know I only dared to submerge my entire foot in the water after about 7 minutes. Before that, I only sacrificed my heel or my toes.
My feet have never been so smooth.
Not to mention it's RM5 for 10 minutes in Central Market, so for anyone heading that side: go while the offer's still there!

Central Market's also got a stall selling shirts with incredibly witty wording on them.
RHB Bank- Robin Hood Bank. We steal from the rich AND the poor. -we don't discriminate-
HSBC- Highly Suspicious Banking Company. The world's loco bank.
BMW- Burn My Wallet

Also, my all time favourite: KEEP MALAYSIA CLEAN. Throw your rubbish in Singapore.
As well as: When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.

OF course, it was RM35 friggin bucks, so I didn't buy it. One day, I'll just go and print out my own shirt, LOL.

A Politically Correct Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*

*The politically correct police had taken away,*

*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*

*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*

*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
*December 25th is just a " Holiday ".*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*

*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*

*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken &Fonda.*

*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*

*At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*

*Inc
lusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si -ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*

*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*

*On Boxer, on Rather, on Clinton, and Obama!*

*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*

*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*

*Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*

*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*

*So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"*

*Sipping
your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*

*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!*

It pisses me off that this could happen. I mean, some form of equality is good, but not to the extent that I am forced to hide my religion. Christmas is the day that Christ was born. It is meant to be celebrated and tolerated by all, just as other occasions such as Ramadan or Kwanzaa are. And so what if it doesn't apply to everybody? When people choose their way of life, it means that they're making an informed decision, and knew what would and wouldn't be included in their life.
Remember the true meaning of Christmas- Merry Christmas to all and to all...a goodnight!

Aussie Speech [As confusing as it really sounds!]

G'day mate!

The cry known around the world as a true blue Australian greeting. Probably made all the more famous by Steve Irwin on his Crocodile Adventure series. America must think that that's all Australians say around here, like a broken record. "G'day...G'day...G'day...G'day..." However, people here don't even say that. XD I'm not too sure where the world gets this notion that every Australian says this, but seriously, they don't.

And then, just when we've gotten over the 'G'day', everyone here LOVES saying 'No worries!'
Possibly made worse by the way they pronounce it: Naw wah-reys!
These are just the hardcore Aussie citizens with their hardcore Aussie accents though. Most Australians have gone very neutral with their accents, due to the international enviroment that they live in.

Of course, we could never leave out 'Fair Dinkum', which means, true, or honest. Supposedly. XD
I've heard a few people use it before, and it's confused me to no end until I finally decided to google it and figure out what in the world they were on about.

Last, but not least. To all Malaysians and South Africans, please make out this word:
Gaol.
You get a prize if you do.
That, my friends, is the Australian spelling of the word JAIL.
Yes people, JAIL. Yes people, believe it or not. I was sitting in history reading all about the tortuous Japanese attacks and came across this word. Upon which I began going 'gah-ole', 'goal', 'jah-ole'.
And then I looked it up in the dictionary and figured out it was actually jail.
I reckon I need compensation for this.
So ends my episode on Australian slang.

Christmas is coming up very very soon.
And for some reason, it doesn't seem as exciting.
Maybe because I now have a job and have to spend it on the poor souls that I like to call my family?
Hmmm, maybe I should be more stingy so that I can be more excited for Christmas...XD

Peace, for the Moment [Or, The Calm Before the Storm]

Today was as hectic as can be expected, I suppose.
I set my alarm today for 8.30am, as I had to go to work at 10am later (or not so much later) that day.
At 7.30am, a horrbily ungodly hour in my book, my boss SMSed me and asked me to get in at 9.30am instead. Woe is me, I thought, and I stupidly agreed to such a request at such ridiculously short notice.
I got up, instead at 8.15am and managed to grab some cereal and just had enough time to make my lunch, grab my water and hop into the car.
I did not, however, manage to grab some coffee. Which is bad. Because my working hours for today had become 9.30am-5pm.Which meant that I would have no coffee for 7.5 hours. To anyone who knows me well, they know that this can also equate to extreme crankiness and extreme sleepiness.
And trust me, I was so sleepy, I was not entirely sure if I myself knew what I was actually doing. The day was a daze, up until about 11am, when things started getting horribly busy.
Today was a fairly busy day, it being the weekend before Christmas. One can understand why it was so busy, although most of us would wonder what Christmas Day has to do with the lottery since most Christians I know tend to save the money that would otherwise go into the lottery for the offering at church. Trust me, I think God would look down on you more kindly if you spent the little bits of change on the poor rather than on the lottery and hope to gain millions.
My colleagues can be the sweetest people ever. I got cards from most of them as well as little chocolates bars and candy canes, and then my boss was actually really really cool.
I got a music coupon from him as a present. =) Which, I suppose, in a way was like my Christmas bonus, even though I've only been working there for like 2 months, kekekekekeke.
Now I just have to spend it wisely, cuz I don't wanna get some weird ass music that's not worth spending on, when my cousins could get the same music for free. (go figure, they have Limewire and *gasp* I don't!)

Fow the first time in like 4 months, I actually haven't gone over to my cousin's house for dinner. Scary right? Nah, not really, it was quite nice actually, considering how tired I am from work and whatnot.

Anyhow, that is how my day has gone.
Peace out, another day in the life of a TCK.
Which, coincidentally, is turning out to be quite boring, considering how much I've travelled. XD
